Hi all,
Microsoft has announced that Windows 10 will reach its end of support on October 14, 2025. This means that after this date, security updates and technical support for Windows 10 will no longer be provided by Microsoft.
Continuing to use Windows 10 after its end of life will expose devices to significant security risks. These risks include vulnerabilities to malware, viruses, and other cyber threats.
I’m working to make sure all capable company computers are updated to Windows 11 and to phase out machines that aren’t compatible. For your Windows based machines whether at home or used for work Windows 11 is available as a free upgrade from Windows 10 on supported devices. If you are unsure which version of Windows you are running, look at the start button on your taskbar.

If it looks like this you are already running Windows 11. If the start button icon is white and on an angle you are still running Windows 10. If you still aren’t sure go to Settings -> System -> About or let me know and I can assist you in checking.
On your personal devices I strongly recommend that you take the following steps:
- Check Windows 11 Compatibility: verify if your device is compatible with Windows 11. You can download a Microsoft tool called “PC Health Check” here: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/how-to-use-the-pc-health-check-app-9c8abd9b-03ba-4e67-81ef-36f37caa7844 Once installed you can run PC Health Check and click the blue check now button to see if your system is compatible.
- Upgrade to Windows 11: If your device meets the requirements, upgrade to Windows 11 as soon as possible. This will ensure you continue to receive security updates from Microsoft. If your device can run Windows 11 but hasn’t automatically updated you can download the “Windows 11 Installation Assistant” here: https://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=2171764
- Consider Device Replacement: If your device is not compatible with Windows 11, explore options for acquiring a newer device that supports Windows 11.
Please don’t wait until it’s too late. Using an unsupported operating system significantly increases the risk of security breaches, which can have far-reaching consequences. To protect company networks and systems there will be a time, not yet determined, that we will block Windows 10 access to VPN connections.
If you have any questions about Windows 11 compatibility or device upgrades, please let me know.
